Over the past several months, six women and men have shared their
stories of faith and expressed their desire to become a part of the
Catholic Church. Today at the 10:30 a.m. Mass, we welcomed our three
catechumens and three candidates namely: Mazhar, Joseph, Todd,
John, Jaime and Jennifer.
As we welcome them into our community, we commit ourselves to journey
with them to the Easter Vigil through our prayer, example and presence.
19 November 2006
The RITE OF WELCOME
AND ACCEPTANCE will be celebrated in our parish at the 10:30 a.m.
Mass next Sunday, November 26, 2006. After several weeks of sharing
faith stories and Scripture, asking questions about and discussing
Catholicism, six adults are requesting to be accepted into the next
phase of RCIA. They are: Mazhar, Joseph, Todd , John, Jaime and
Jennifer.
During the upcoming time
period, our catechumens and candidates will enter a time of formal
instruction in the Catholic faith. As a parish community, our role is to
support them with our prayers and to witness their continuing journey
toward the Easter celebration of their initiation sacraments.
Won't you join us in welcoming them and praying for them along this
journey?
We give thanks and praise
to the Holy Spirit who has led them by a variety of paths to a oneness
in faith.

"Becoming
Catholic? The Beginner's Guide To a
Life of Faith is a personal website published by a convert to
Catholicism who has become a catechist. The goal of the site is to help
those interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith to 'focus on
what's important,
be serious about converting to Christ, learn the 'next steps' to take,
get helpful guidance that addresses real needs, [and] find solid &
reliable information.'
Today's session, presented by Father Ed and Michael
Fetsko, focused on the journey ahead, and they answered questions and
answers from the group. David Bonney who participated in last
year's group shared the story of his journey with all of us.
Today, we also posted a video
produced by our friends at the
Rosary Army Podcast, featuring several members of their home
parish's RCIA group where Catholics new and old talk about their faith
journey.
10 September
2006
Our first session outlining the year ahead was presented
by Father Ed.
It's Coming! Our Sessions will resume Sunday,

Calling
All Sponsors!
Sponsors
for our RCIA candidates participate in the Church's ministry of
welcoming new members. To be a sponsor means to serve as a companion for
the journey of faith, offering guidance and sharing life's experiences.
Sponsors find their own faith life enriched by the RCIA process.
If you
want to know more about being an RCIA Sponsor, or you are willing to
serve as a Sponsor for candidates preparing to be initiated into our
faith, please call Fr. Ed Jocson at the Parish Center.
The
Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church
is now available online! The Compendium is a more concise version of the same contents of Catholic faith and morals found in the
Catechism, presented in a question and answer format.
It is sometimes referred to as the "Mini Catechism."
One Final Note
Although our program has ended for now, our podcastswill
continue throughout the Summer, offering an explanation of the Sunday
Liturgical Readings, Traditional and Contemporary Christian Music, and
an interview or two with those who have made the journey to the Catholic
Church.
Congratulations to Dave, Stephen, Gary, Todd
and Brad, who will be welcomed into Full-Communion in the Catholic
Church. It was a fitting way to celebrate
Pentecost, the birth of the Church. Afterwards, they,
their families, the rest of our RCIA community and the parish family
enjoyed fellowship in the Parish Center, where we all broke bread
together to close off a very special year. Thank you to all who
participated! Watch the movie by clicking here.
